BAAQMD Wood Burning Rule Complaint Form

Regulation 6, Rule 3: Wood-burning Devices prohibits burning of solid fuels when the Air District forecasts air quality to be unhealthy, restricts excessive visible smoke and burning of trash. From November 1 through the end of February, the Air District issues Winter Spare the Air Alerts during which it is illegal to burn solid fuels, including wood, manufactured logs and pellets, in fireplaces, woodstoves or any outside fire. Excessive visible smoke and burning of trash is always prohibited.

If you believe you have observed burning during a Winter Spare the Air Alert, excessive smoke coming from a chimney, or other potentially illegal burning activity, you may use the complaint form below to report the activity. The complaint information you provide will be used to help Air District staff direct woodsmoke patrols. The names and addresses of people making the complaints will be kept confidential from anyone but Air District staff, except when required in legal cases.
